Mixed-Use Complex Rehrlplatz, Salzburg - AT, 2011
EU-wide open competition

The proposal for a mixed-use complex inserts a hybrid between the park landscape and the surrounding city structure. Conceived as a continuation of the green recreation area, the undulating artificial topography creates a clear edge while providing differentiated private green spaces towards the other side. Pedestrian paths cut through the urban mass, connecting the public zones of the cafe, the lobby for the boarding houses and shopping areas with the park.
The proposal refers to the smooth river landscape before the regulation of the river Salzach and the vertical “natural wall” of the Kapuziner Mountain. The artificial topography is articulated by a non-periodic pattern creating openings, private green areas, terraces and balconies.
